Why by donation?

Education for all

Our program was created for ALL students and we want everyone to have access. Over the past three years we have been working hard to build a foundation to be able to make our programming as affordable as possible. However, in order to provide the amazing program at R.I.S.E. Academy it costs us $3,000 per credit to run. We understand that that amount is totally unreasonable for most, however to be able to provide a one to one, personalized program for each youth that is what it costs!

Imagine paying for tutoring for your child for an entire semester: 2 times a week @ $50 / session * 20 weeks.  That amounts to $2,000 to help your child try to fit into a box – a model that may not be right for them. 

Each school board in Ontario receives anywhere from $11,000 – $28,000 per student per year.  If a student was completing 8 credits in a year that is a cost of $1500 – $3500 / credit in class sizes of 20 – 35 students (ref).

How we’re different

At R.I.S.E. our youth work one to one with their facilitators to co-create a program that works for them. They receive ongoing support throughout the semester by their facilitator and other supports such as Social Workers and Junior Facilitators. They connect with community partners, they create solutions to problems and they take action. They build relationships with their facilitators and feel supported. They build a portfolio that not only makes the world a better place, but also helps them for their futures as they become proficient in global competencies that are needed today.

Compensation for R.I.S.E. courses

You are free to choose the amount that feels right to you knowing the minimum donation amount and the suggested amount provided. However, we would never want finances to be a barrier to anyone accessing our programming. If this is the case for you, please choose another amount that works for you below.
